The Royal Tank Regiment has a tradition of professionalism dating back to its formation in the First World War. The Army Tank Brigade is well-prepared and ready for battle.
The Tank, Infantry, Mk I, Matilda I (A11), or simply the Matilda I was slow, cramped and armed with only a single machine gun. However, it did see success during the Battle for France where its heavy armour was proof against the standard German 3.7cm anti-tank guns. With its excellent protection it provided supporting fire against enemy infantry positions and machine-gun nests.
